Buenos días/tardes!
I keep forgetting to write this up. I don’t think my circadian rhythm has synced up yet with the time change, which is rather annoying because it’s throwing me off completely in my schedule. So I’ve been feeling so restless.
Anyway, como el Bob Dylan dice los tiempos están cambiando. Side note, I was also obsessed con el Bob Dylan's music for a hot minute. This week's playlists consists of songs I’ve been into, most are slower vibes, which I do think encapsulates my overall mood lately.
los tiempos están cambiando
Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space by Spiritualized— man, I am happy I didn’t know this song when I was depressed or going through a heartbreak.
Zebra by Beach House — jesus, another sad song lmao
Shut Up Kiss Me by Angel Olsen — this song is such a perfect song to listen to if you have a crush, which for me is always.
I'll Try Anything Once ("You Only Live Once" demo) (Heart In a Cage B-side) by The Strokes — Imma '“i’ll try anything once” typa bitch
Sleeper by BADBADNOTGOOD and Charlotte Day Wilson — I’ve been getting into BADBADNOTGOOD more recently, so good.
Dancer by Idles and LCD Soundsystem — Someone I once really liked loved LCD Soundsystem and I tried so hard to get into their music, but at the time I couldn’t so maybe I’ll try again and see what my thoughts are. I do like IDLES though.
Tugboat by Galaxie 500 — “It's a place I'd like to be / It's a place I'd be happy” — y’know what I think I got seasonal depression.
I Don’t Know You by Mannequin Pussy — Another song for when you have a crush. I feel like this is such a big shift from their usual music, at least the ones I first listened to (Romantic and Patience). It's more soft and shoegaz-ey.
It Was Not A Beautiful Night by Sabrina Song — I think she’s rising up in her music career or at least the indie scene. I had included her other song Strawberry in a previous playlist. This one is less pop and more rock. Around 30 seconds is where you first get that electric guitar coming in.
Stella was a diver and she’s always done by Interpol— Every now and then I remember Interpol exists. This song also reminds me of A Streetcar Named Desire (1951) and then the connection Pedro Almodovar made in his film Todo Sobre mi Madre (1999). Anyway, both are good movies and this is a good song, although not my favorite from Interpol.
You Can Have It All by Yo La Tengo — I like the intro to this song, “If you want, want my love / Take it, baby”
